The Spanish Mustang helped shape the USA as we know it. Descended of the horse of the Conquistadors, Indian buffalo hunters and war ponies, to wild horse of the West, this breed has a rich and illustrious history that forms an important part of our American Heritage. Thanks to a handful of dedicated breeders, who have made it their life's work to preserve these special horses, the breed is still in existence today, albeit on the critical list of rare breeds.

The Spanish Mustang is not to be confused with the BLM mustang!

Important Announcement - Registrar Change and Annual Stallion/Foal Reports Due by December 31st

Effective immediately, the Spanish Mustang Registry Board of Directors has appointed long time SMR member Simrat Khalsa as the new Registrar. Due to health issues, Registrar Marye Ann Thompson has agreed to transition these responsibilities to Simrat. Marye Ann has provided Registrar service to SMR members for MANY years.

We are hoping to make this change with minimal impact on the membership. From now forward, send all registration correspondence to Simrat Khalsa, 84850 South Ridgeway Road, Pleasant Hill, OR 97455. If anyone has an outstanding request for a duplicate registration certificate, a registration, a DNA request, a transfer of ownership or any other Registrar activity, please contact Simrat so that these requests can be addressed.

Please remember to submit your annual stallion and foaling reports by December 31st. Thank you for your patience during this transition.
